    Ollie

Ollie is a black and white Working English Springer Spaniel. I contacted a few people who train puppies and viewed one other trainer before speaking to Leah, and decided to go with Positive Training for Canines as Leah talked about using positive methods of training, treats, encouragement and praise which appealed.  The initial set of 8 training sessions ran early in the evening so my 7 year old daughter could come along.

We were given a training pack and on a weekly basis a set of notes covering each session, very useful once you get home.  On a couple of occasions when we couldn’t get along to that evenings session Leah has come out to see us and spoken on the phone when we needed some advice. Having this back up is great as with small children there are times when you can’t make the training classes but would like to find out what has happened.

We continued with the Puppy Improvers class, another set of 8 sessions again accompanied with a set of notes for each week.  Ollie is progressing well we still need to consolidate what we have been learning mainly walking to heal however, his recall is good and he is regularly walked off lead. Sits, stays and waits are coming along well too. It was useful to borrow a double ended lead in one session to practice putting our puppy on and off a lead without him running round the hall as he is quite excitable.

Maisy

Maisy is our first puppy and although we knew it would be hard work I think we still underestimated just how hard!!!  We knew we wanted to take her to puppy classes and started looking through local adverts to find someone to help us!!  I phoned a couple before I spoke to Leah but they all sounded very formal and for training for competitions/ shows only rather than every day obedience which is what we so desperately were looking for!

When I spoke to Leah she sounded so warm and friendly and you could tell just from speaking to her on the phone that she was very passionate about her work.  We couldn’t wait to get started and as soon as Maisy had her 2nd injection Leah let us take her along to watch the current classes which was great as it got Maisy used to the environment and gave us an idea of what we would be doing.  The classes have a friendly, informal atmosphere and are really good fun!  Leah is so patient and if something doesn’t work for you first time she will show you different ways to try until you find something that works for you and your dog.

The classes bring people and their puppies together  that are all in the same boat so not only do you get knowledge and tips from Leah but you also share ideas and experience with each other.  It is such a relief when you hear that others are having the same problems you are!!!   Maisy loved going to puppy classes and Leah has helped us to make her a well behaved addition to our family!

We have recently attended a tricks workshop and social walk which were both such good fun, Maisy loves showing off with the new tricks she has learnt!

Thanks Leah!
